Liberal professions
Not only is the liberal professions sector steadily growing, it is also increasingly coming under pressure. From the European side, there is a demand for deregulation.
Practitioners in the liberal professions are increasingly being sued by their clients. We have extensive experience in defending the interests of, among others, architects, expert accountants, doctors, paramedics, notaries and bailiffs.
We provide support to the liberal professions with respect to issues relating to, among others, remuneration, setting up and terminating partnerships, welfare and safety, career breaks, disciplinary law and civil liabilities, social security and especially incapacity for work (due to sickness or an accident), pensions and bankruptcy.
Since the insolvency law reform in September 2017, practitioners of a liberal profession can now also be declared bankrupt if they are unable to repay their debts and no improvement in their financial status is foreseen. At the same time, however, practitioners of a liberal profession now have more options to reorganise in the event of financial difficulties. We can also provide support in cases such as these.
In the event of a dispute, our offices will attempt to reconcile the parties. If a judicial procedure is unavoidable, we will assist practitioners of the liberal professions with the handling of expert appraisals and throughout the various project phases.
